Intermittent rain continues in Capital; 3 key measures in place for drainage, traffic

ISLAMABAD, Apr 03 (APP):Intermittent rain continued in the federal capital on Friday, prompting Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration to activate 3 key measures to manage the situation, including field monitoring, drainage work and traffic control.
On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, assistant commissioners remained present in the field to oversee arrangements and respond to any issues caused by the rainfall.
Officials reported that assistant commissioners are monitoring low-lying areas and storm water drains across the city to prevent water accumulation. Special attention is being given to areas that usually face water buildup during rain. Teams are visiting different areas to ensure that the flow of water remains uninterrupted.
Sanitation teams have also been deployed across the city to maintain timely drainage. According to the district administration spokesperson, these teams are working on clearing drains and removing any blockages so that rainwater can pass without delay. The spokesperson said that prior cleaning of drains has helped improve the flow of water during the current spell of rain.
The district administration is working in coordination with traffic police to maintain the flow of vehicles on major roads. Officials said that efforts are being made to avoid traffic disruption, especially in areas affected by water on roads. Traffic personnel are present at key points to guide commuters and prevent congestion.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has urged the citizens to take weather conditions into account and avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall. The appeal aims to reduce pressure on roads and help authorities manage the situation more effectively.
The authorities stated that continuous monitoring is in place and teams will remain active until the weather conditions improve. The administration has also indicated that it is prepared to respond to any emergency situation if required.
The current measures, including field presence of officers, sanitation work and coordination with traffic police, are part of efforts to manage rain-related challenges in the city.
