Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visits Catholic Church, joins Christmas celebrations

ISLAMABAD, Dec 25 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday visited the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Islamabad’s F-8 Sector, where he was warmly received by Archbishop Joseph Arshad of Islamabad–Rawalpindi.

The interior minister attended a special ceremony held in connection with Christmas celebrations. Children presented welcome flowers to the minister upon his arrival. Mohsin Naqvi, along with Archbishop Joseph Arshad and members of the Christian community, cut the Christmas cake to mark the occasion.

Naqvi extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to the Christian community and lit the “peace candle” together with church leaders and parish members. During the prayer service, children performed a welcome tableau, while Christmas carols were also presented.

Reverend Father Sylvester Joseph welcomed the minister on behalf of the Christian community and thanked him for joining the celebration.

Addressing the ceremony, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Christmas is a festival of joy, love, and brotherhood. He reaffirmed that all communities living in Pakistan enjoy equal status, as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Naqvi added that all Pakistanis have equal rights and stand united under the Quaid’s guiding principles.

He noted that foolproof security arrangements had been ensured across the country for Christmas festivities.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Deputy Commissioner, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, among other officials.
