Information minister condemns opposition’s hooliganism in PA

LAHORE, Oct 16 (APP):Provincial Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan here on Tuesday condemned the opposition over its hooliganism during the Punjab Assembly Budget Session.
Talking to media after the budget session at the Punjab Assembly premises, he slammed the opposition leaders for their unruly behaviour and attacking Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s dais and attempts to hurt the secretary Punjab Assembly.
To a query, he said that opposition’s undemocratic act had brought democracy into disrepute, adding that the opposition leader Hamza Shehbaz patronised rowdyism in the august house.
To a question, the information minister asked the opposition to mend its ways, adding that it was unbecoming of the opposition to drag Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan into politics. Aleema Khan was a housewife and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had always respected women across the board, he added.
He said the PTI had never raised fingers at the sisters and mothers of others.
He advised the Pakistan Muslim League-N leadership to refrain from targeting women, adding that the opposition could not throw stones at others while sitting in a glass house.
Referring to the sloganeering by the opposition during the Punjab Assembly budget session, the information minister criticised the opposition, saying that the government knew that the opposition missed their leader Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who was in the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody. That is why, they raised slogans like ‘Daku, Daku’ (Dacoit), he added.
Chohan said the people who looted Punjab without remorse would have to account for their misdeeds, adding that the investigation institutions were holding independent investigation into corruption and the government would facilitate them.
To another question, the information minister reiterated government’s resolve to hold all those accountable, who had looted the public money. Independent judiciary and state institutions were conducting accountability, while the government would remove the obstacles in the path of indiscriminate accountability.
Referring to the opposition’s protest during the Punjab Assembly budget session, the minister said those who looted the national wealth would have to face the consequences.
