Information group probationers of 43rd STP briefed over APP’s news operations
ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP):A batch of probationary civil officers from the Information Group on Tuesday visited Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), where they were briefed about the professional working of the state news agency.
Led by Director Information Service Academy Mehreen Liaquat, the visit of probationers was part of the 43rd Specialized Training Programme aimed at learning about the various wings and attached departments of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Acting Managing Director APP, Sabeen Usman Khattak highlighted the role of APP in dissemination of credible news besides building positive narrative in national interest.
APP, she said, was progressing as a dynamic news agency with a versatile approach of disseminating content simultaneously in the form of text news, photos, videos and digital content.
She mentioned APP’s extensive editorial network, including its headquarters in Islamabad, regional bureaus, stations, foreign correspondents and a wide pool of part-time correspondents across the country.
It was highlighted that APP had inked news exchange agreements with state-run news agencies of over 50 countries, which contributed towards strengthening Pakistan’s narrative at international level.
Director News APP Shumaila Andleeb, Director Urdu Service Abdul Jabbar Zekria and Director Video News Service Rubnawaz Bajwa briefed about the working of the various sections of APP.
The delegation toured APP’s Central News Desk, Reporting, Urdu Service, Studios and Data Centre, where the civil service probationers showed keen interest in the news operations.
