ISLAMABAD, Nov 3 (APP):Indian Army and police top brass have decided to tighten military grid across occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the name of security and surveillance especially in Reasi and Srinagar districts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, accompanied by Inspector General of Police Jammu Tejinder Singh, visited Reasi district to review the situation and assess operational preparedness in the hinterland.
The Army Commander, along with senior officers from intelligence and other agencies, was briefed about ongoing so-called counter-terrorism operations and measures aimed at further strengthening the military grid.
The visit focused on enhancing coordination among various agencies, strengthening intelligence-sharing mechanisms and ensuring better synergy among stakeholders to effectively tackle the challenges.
The Indian Army, in a post on X, said Lt Gen Sharma commended the troops for their unwavering commitment, high operational preparedness and exemplary professionalism while operating under challenging conditions.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar chaired a comprehensive meeting, which was attended by DIG CKR, DIG SKR, SSPs Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Awantipora, along with concerned Zonal SPs and SP SOG.
During the meeting, arrangements and ongoing operational measures along the Jhelum Corridor, particularly in Pulwama and Awantipora, were reviewed.
Observers say such meetings expose India’s continued reliance on military might and iron-fist policy to suppress the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people, instead of resolving the internationally recognized Kashmir dispute.
