ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP): The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing Sunday arranged a flag hoisting ceremony to celebrate the country’s 70th Independence Day at the embassy.
The event was marked by patriotic fervor where the valiant founding fathers of the nation were remembered, and homage was paid to the martyrs of the nation who had given the ultimate sacrifice in the struggle to win and secure independence from subjugation, says a press release received here from China.
Ambassador Masood Khalid hoisted the national flag and national anthem was also played at the ceremony.
He also read out the messages of the prime minister and president on the Independence Day.
In his address, Ambassador Masood Khalid congratulated the Pakistani community said “today when Independence Day is celebrated and cherished we realize and take pride in being citizens of an independent country.
We are the champions of our own destiny and harbinger of a bright future. Our ties with China have grown from strength to strength.”
He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor heralded prosperity for our future. Let’s pledge that we will fulfill the promise of a better future for the forthcoming generations, he added.
National songs were sung at the embassy’s school and the ambassador also mingled with the community at the luncheon.
