ISLAMABAD, Feb 03 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have continued their organised and effective crackdown against criminal elements, arresting four dacoits belonging to the notorious “Butt gang” involved in multiple robbery incidents in the federal capital.
A police spokesperson told APP on Tuesday that the arrests were made by the Sumbal Police Station team during a targeted operation against organised dacoity gangs.
The spokesperson said that snatched cash and valuable mobile phones worth millions of rupees were recovered from the possession of the arrested dacoits. Police also recovered weapons along with ammunition used by the suspects during the robberies.
According to police, the arrested dacoits confessed during initial interrogation to committing multiple dacoity incidents at gunpoint, forcibly snatching cash and other valuables from citizens in different areas.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that all legal requirements are being fulfilled to ensure that the arrested Butt gang dacoits are awarded exemplary punishment.
He added that indiscriminate action will continue against criminals who deprive citizens of their hard-earned assets, stressing that large-scale operations against organised and active dacoit gangs are under way across the district.
DIG Tariq reaffirmed that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Islamabad Police.
