IMF's bitter pill swallowed to ensure long term relief to people: Firdous

ISLAMABAD, May 13 (APP):Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Monday said the bitter pill of International Monetary Fund (IMF) would have to be swallowed for ensuring long term relief to the people and revival of the economy of the country.
Addressing at the National Literary Seminar in connection with 767th Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, organized by Shah Abdul Latif Social and Cultural Association (SASCA), she said everybody specially the opposition was talking about the agreement inked with the IMF.
She said the target of Prime Minister Imran Khan was to empower the poor segment of society by improving their lot. Government could not succeed sans devising people friendly policies.
Stressing the need to obviate the wrong perceptions about Islam, she said Sufism and teachings of Sufi saints should be promoted for the betterment of humanity.
Higher Education Commission has been directed to establish special chairs and desks for conducting research on Sufism.
She said Prime Minister Imran Khan had recently laid the foundation stone of
Al Qadir University to revive Islamic research. The government would do utmost to promote the mission of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
Firdous said she was the true follower of Sufi saints.The Muslims had unfortunately deviated from their primary task of research, she added.
She said terrorism has become a menace and the Government was taking decisions to rid the country from it.
