ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP):Islamabad Medical and Dental College (IMDC) and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH) have screened more than 60 people for hepatitis C during a free medical camp in Shahpur, Bhara Kahu.
The camp was arranged as part of efforts to support the Prime Minister’s National Hepatitis C Elimination Programme.
The camp marked the institutions’ second specialized hepatitis C screening visit to the area, aimed at promoting early detection, raising public awareness and facilitating timely medical care.
According to the organizers, medical teams provided free screening, consultations and health education to local residents, while registering participants and identifying individuals requiring further assessment.
People needing additional care were counselled and referred to the relevant hospital services for medical evaluation and follow-up.
The initiative also involved medical students, doctors and nursing staff, who contributed to community outreach and awareness activities.
The organizers said the initiative reflected their commitment to strengthening preventive healthcare and supporting national efforts to eliminate hepatitis C through community-based screening, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
