ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP):Minister for Interior Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah Wednesday dilated upon the significance of National Counter Terrorism Authority’s (NACTA) role in counter terrorism and extremism and re-emphasized the need to strengthen it.
“Countering extremism and terrorism is a very important task and the government will ensure all possible support to NACTA,” the minister expressed these views during his visit to NACTA, said a press release.
The National Coordinator, NACTA Mehr Khaliq Dad Lak briefed the Minister on administrative and operational matters of the body.
The Minister also listened to the concerns of the department and assured all possible assistance from the Ministry of Interior.
He was also apprised about the ongoing initiatives and future roadmap to further optimize outreach of NACTA in the realm of counter terrorism and extremism, to which, he said, that this was a very important task to do and in current context, this area must be given due consideration.
The Minister was presented copies of recently published Annual Threat Assessment Review 2019, Annual Policy Review 2019, Annual Research Journal 2019 and NACTA’s Administration Report 2019 currently prepared by NACTA.
He said, “This is a great initiative and I really appreciate that you have come up with such organized publications on policy and relevant areas of research. It is heartening to see that conceptual research papers material is being produced here that will assist in policy formulation.”
The minister appreciated the achievements of NACTA and extended his full support and cooperation in making the premier national body to be more vibrant and dynamic.
