ISLAMABAD, Jan 19 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended the single bench decision to impose fines on police officers in the case of alleged arrest of woman and minor girls from Lahore and Bahawalpur in a transaction dispute involving former CEO PIA Musharraf Rasool.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan issued a written order after hearing the intra-court appeal.
According to the court order, FIR No. 658 was registered on September 20, 2025 at Tarnol Police Station. The lawyer told the court that if the investigation report has been submitted and the case is in the trial stage, the FIR cannot be declared null and void. The court was also told that the police officers were not given the opportunity to be heard while pronouncing the decision.
According to the lawyer, it is the trial court’s discretion to impose punishment or not, while the single bench’s fine of
Rs.100,000 each on Sub-Inspector Amir Haya, ASI Mahmood Amjad and SHO was unjustified.
The court considered the points raised in the appeal. The court suspended the single bench’s decision and issued notices to the parties to respond.
