ISLAMABAD, Jul 31 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday summoned the SSP Operations and the Deputy Commissioner on August 4, on a petition against the closure of roads due to protests near the National Press Club.
IHC’s Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar heard the petition of the owner of a petrol pump in Sector F-6. Kashif Malik appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner and took the position that the petitioner has a petrol pump in Sector F-6, his work is being affected by the closure of roads.
After the hearing, the court issued a written order in which it was written that according to the lawyer, protests are a constitutional right but they cannot affect others by closing roads. It is the responsibility of the administration to regulate the protests.
The court ordered that the DC Islamabad and DIG Operations appear in person on August 4, and tell what steps have been taken to resolve the matter. Further hearing of the case will be held on August 4.
