IHC summons DG FIA in person in case against ex-member CDA

ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP):Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday summoned Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in person on acquittal plea of CDA’s former member Estate Abdul Salam in double allotment case.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the acquittal petition of Abdul Salam.
During the course of proceeding, petitioner’s lawyer Kashif Ali Malik took the position that the FIA registered the case in 2018, the case has been going on in the court of the Special Judge Central since 2018.
He said that the case challan was submitted to the court in December 2019. In six years, only 3 witnesses’ statements were recorded, he said.
The Chief Justice said that if the seizure memo is not available, then what is the investigator doing? Let’s call the DG FIA at the next hearing.
The court summoned the DG FIA and adjourned the hearing till next week.
It may be mentioned here that the Special Judge Central had rejected the petitioner’s acquittal plea. The petitioner has challenged the decision of the Special Judge Central in the High Court.
