ISLAMABAD, Dec 04 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday maintained its stay order on Council of Islamic Ideology’s opinion in a case related to Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, hearing the case, remarked that the stay order on Council of Islamic Ideology’s opinion will remain in place. The court, however, is not suspending the powers of Council of Islamic Ideology, he said.
The court summoned Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan for judicial assistance and added the Attorney General should appear and present the state’s position on the matter, the court said.
The court remarked that the opinion of Council of Islamic Ideology can be sent to the President, Governor and Parliament.
The council’s rules, however, mention sending the opinion only to Parliament, it noted.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case until after the winter vacations.
