ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday sought written response from Advocate General Islamabad on a contempt petition filed by lawyer Salman Akram Raja for not being allowed to meet the founder of PTI in jail.
The court also termed the PTA’s response in the case of closing the founder of PTI’s X-account as unsatisfactory and remarked that you should see what the writ petition is and what your response is.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition of citizen Ghulam Murtaza seeking to close the founder of PTI’s X-account. He remarked that the response has been received by the jail authorities, PTA and other parties.
The court termed the PTA’s response as unsatisfactory and spoke to the lawyer and said that what the writ petition is and you should see your response.
Salman Akram Raja said that a legal meeting could not be held with the founder of PTI regarding this case. To which the court said that if you meet, the final arguments will be held on February 24.
The court sought a detailed response from Salman Akram Raja in the contempt of court petition for not meeting the founder of PTI.
The public prosecutor took the position that the larger bench is the one that hears cases involving meetings. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir said that he is saying that how will this case proceed unless the meeting is held. Salman Akram Raja said that he has filed the case but I am not allowed to meet my client.I have not met the founder after this case was filed.
The court directed the public prosecutor to give whatever you have to say in writing. Salman Akram Raja said that your order to meet is dated November 4, and has not been implemented for two months. Should I go to the jail today for a meeting?
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked that an appropriate order will be issued in this regard.The court adjourned the further hearing of the case until February 24.
