The Islamabad High Court IHC) on Tuesday directed the counsel for National Assembly members Adil Bazai and Dawar Kundi to submit copies of relevant court judgments in a petition challenging their detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
IHC seeks judgments in MPO detention case of PTI MNAs
ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday directed the counsel for National Assembly members Adil Bazai and Dawar Kundi to submit copies of relevant court judgments in a petition challenging their detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
Justice Khadim Hussain Somroo heard the case. During the hearing, Advocate Babar Awan appeared before the court and contended that both Members National Assembly (MNAs) had been picked up from the Parliament Lodges. He said a person named Khushdil Khan Bazai was also taken into custody from the Parliament Lodges.
Babar Awan read out the MPO orders and said the orders had been issued on the basis of the prevailing law and order situation. He questioned how an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) could receive information that two MNAs were allegedly planning to create a law and order situation.
The court accepted the request and directed the counsel to submit copies of the judgments against the MPO orders.
“You submit those judgments; we will pass the order,” the court remarked.
