ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday restored the bail and right to defense of Advocate Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in the controversial tweet case.
The court directed the prosecution to complete the cross-examination of witnesses within three days and to complete the trial peacefully without any disruption.
Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha also approached the court for pre-arrest bail after another case of 2025 came up against them. Justice Muhammad Azam Khan heard the application of Advocate Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha, in which the trial court’s order canceling the bail and removing the right to cross-examine the witnesses was challenged. Iman Mazari’s lawyer Kamran Murtaza requested that the trial court’s order be declared null and void.
The court suspended the order of Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka and asked how many witnesses are left to be cross-examined, how much time will be required? Kamran Murtaza said that we should give one week to cross-examine the witnesses.
The court rejected the request for one week to complete the cross-examination of the witnesses and said that one week is too much time, complete the cross-examination of the witnesses in three days.
The court further directed that the trial should proceed peacefully and there should be no problem. On the other hand, a case of July 2025 has come to light against Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha. Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha filed pre-arrest bail applications in the case.  They requested a hearing on Tuesday on an urgent basis.
