ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved its verdict on maintainability of a petition against the notification regarding the appointment of Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the case wherein the petitioner, lawyer Kulsoom Khaliq, appeared before the court in her personal capacity and took the stand that the notification of the relevant appointment was contrary to the legal requirements, therefore it should be declared null and void.
During the hearing, the court remarked that such matters fall under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Judicial Council, so it should be referred there.
On this, the petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that the petition has already been filed in the Supreme Judicial Council and notices have also been issued. The court also pointed out that an objection has been raised on the petition by the Registrar’s Office.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked that an appropriate order will be issued after reviewing the objection.
Later, the court reserved its decision on the admissibility of the petition or not, which will be announced later.
