ISLAMABAD, Nov 06 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its verdict on the post-arrest bail application of police constable Saifullah, arrested in the alleged abduction and murder case of 30-year-old Farukh Afzal.
Justice Shahrukh Arjumand heard the bail application and reserved the decision after completion of arguments from both sides.
The counsel for the accused argued that his client was innocent and had been falsely implicated in the case. He said the constable was not initially nominated in the FIR and was later implicated on the basis of a statement made by a co-accused.
The counsel requested the court to grant bail to the accused until completion of the trial.
Farukh Afzal was allegedly abducted from Islamabad and murdered in May this year. His body was later recovered from Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A 19-year-old woman, Mahnoor Shahid, and KP police official Saifullah were arrested in the case registered at Kohsar Police Station. Mahnoor Shahid has already been granted bail.
