IHC questions CDA’s absence in Bahria Town layout plan case

ISLAMABAD, Nov 02 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed an Assistant Attorney General to contact the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and inquire why no counsel from the authority is appearing in a case challenging the cancellation of Bahria Town’s revised layout plan, 16 years after its approval.
Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas heard the petition filed by the private housing society.
As no counsel appeared on behalf of the CDA, the court summoned Assistant Attorney General Mian Faisal Irfan to the rostrum and directed him to contact the authority’s chairman to seek an explanation for the repeated absence of its lawyer.
The court subsequently adjourned the hearing, with the next date to be fixed by the Registrar’s Office.
Bahria Town has approached the high court against the CDA’s decision to cancel its revised layout plan, which had been approved 16 years earlier.
