IHC permits CDA to conduct operations in model villages

ISLAMABAD, Apr 07 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday allowed the Capital Development Authority to carry out operations in model villages while suspending the decision of single member bench.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif suspended a previous order issued by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, which had restricted such actions.
During the hearing, CDA’s counsel argued that the land for model villages had been acquired around 60 years ago, but possession had not been fully handed over. It was also stated that non-local individuals had occupied the areas.
Representing the residents, Advocate Qaiser Imam requested the court to restrain CDA from taking action against local residents. However, the court rejected the plea seeking a halt to operations.
The court’s decision allows CDA to proceed with its actions in model villages.
