ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (APP): A petition has been filed before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking an inquiry into the PIMS tragedy through a judicial commission headed by a high court judge.
The petition, filed by Advocate Qasim Iqbal Jalali.
The petitioner stated that a tragic incident occurred at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on August 26, and sought orders for a forensic investigation into the incident.
He also requested the court to direct a comprehensive audit of the fire alarm system at PIMS and constitute a judicial commission comprising an IHC judge or the Sessions Judge (West) to investigate the incident.
The petitioner contended that it was a fundamental principle of justice and law that no person could act as investigator and judge in his own matter.
The Federation, Secretary Interior, Secretary Health, Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Islamabad Police have been made respondents in the petition.
