ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday extended the order to suspend the Islamic Ideology Council’s opinion against Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.
The court summoned Attorney General of Pakistan on April 7, and sought assistance in the upcoming hearing.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard Aslam Khaki’s petition against the Islamic Council’s opinion. Despite the court order, the Attorney General of Pakistan could not appear during the hearing.
Assistant Attorney General Usman Ghuman told the court that the Attorney General could not appear due to other commitments. If the court orders, the Additional Attorney General will appear.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that only the Attorney General will appear.
The Assistant Attorney General said that give a date and the Attorney General will appear and assist the court in the upcoming hearing.
The court accepted the request of the Assistant Attorney General and adjourned the hearing until April 7.
Petitioner Aslam Khaki, the lawyer of the Council of Islamic Ideology and officials appeared in the court. The petitioner has challenged the opinion of the Council of Islamic Ideology declaring Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza guilty of blasphemy.
