ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday dismissed the Pakistan Athletics Federation’s petition against the lifting of the ban imposed on Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem’s coach Salman Butt.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the case. While delivering the verdict after hearing the petition, directed the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to hear the Athletics Federation’s appeal and decide according to the law.
The court clarified that the PSB Board is the competent forum to take the final decision after a formal hearing on the appeal. During the court proceedings, it was told that the Pakistan Athletics Federation had imposed a lifetime ban on coach Salman Butt, however, the Pakistan Sports Board’s adjudicator had lifted this ban.
The adjudicator had declared the ban imposed on coach Salman Iqbal Butt unconstitutional in his decision. The Pakistan Athletics Federation had approached the Islamabad High Court challenging the decision of the PSB adjudicator.
The petition argued that the adjudicator had exceeded his powers and interfered in the disciplinary matters of the federation. After hearing the arguments of the parties, the court dismissed the petition and directed the PSB to complete the proceedings on the federation’s appeal in accordance with the law.
