The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday restrained the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) from harassing journalist and vlogger, Asad Ali Toor during the course of an inquiry and summoned the investigating officer in person at the next hearing.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 06 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday restrained the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) from harassing journalist and vlogger, Asad Ali Toor during the course of an inquiry and summoned the investigating officer in person at the next hearing.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Asad Ali Toor challenging an NCCIA notice.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner, Advocate Ataullah Kundi, submitted that his client was willing to join the inquiry but feared arrest. He said the allegations against the journalist related to the dissemination of fake and false information.
The court asked which particular news report had been termed fake by the agency.
Responding to the query, the petitioner’s counsel said the allegation pertained to a report, attributed to another journalist, regarding the medical condition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf founder.
The court directed the investigating officer to appear in person at the next hearing and adjourned further proceedings while restraining the agency from harassing the petitioner during the inquiry.
