ISLAMABAD, Oct 12 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday adjourned hearing on a petition against the detention of PTI’s lawmakers, stating that the court would pass an order into the matter.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro was hearing petitions challenging the detention of four individuals, including PTI MNA Adil Bazai and Dawar Kundi, under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law.
During the hearing, Islamabad Advocate General Naveed Malik argued that the petitions had become ineffective after the detention orders were extended for another 15 days. He requested the court either to dispose of the petitions or allow the petitioners to withdraw them.
PTI counsel Babar Awan opposed the suggestion, saying the government wanted him to return to the same deputy commissioner who had issued the detention order.
The advocate general said that the government did not distinguish between political parties and that the law applied equally to everyone considered a threat to public order. He confirmed that the PML-N worker’s detention had also been extended.
The court said it would issue an order on the petitions.
