Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Thursday chaired a Command Conference at the Central Police Office, reviewing security, traffic and surveillance arrangements for Independence Day celebrations and directing all police wings to ensure coordinated deployment across the federal capital.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 13 (APP): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Thursday chaired a Command Conference at the Central Police Office, reviewing security, traffic and surveillance arrangements for Independence Day celebrations and directing all police wings to ensure coordinated deployment across the federal capital.
An ICT Police spokesperson told APP that all senior officers of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police attended the conference, which reviewed the overall security situation in the city and preparedness of different wings ahead of the celebrations.
The meeting noted that a large number of citizens were expected to visit recreational spots, major avenues, public places and celebration venues on Independence Day, requiring comprehensive arrangements for their security, smooth traffic flow and maintenance of a peaceful environment.
IGP Rizvi directed additional deployment at important locations, major roads and public gathering places, enhanced monitoring of entry and exit points and a visible police presence across different areas of Islamabad.
He instructed senior officers to personally supervise security arrangements in their respective areas and ensure that police teams remained prepared to respond promptly to any situation.
Under the “No To Weapon” campaign, the IGP ordered strict action against illegal weapons, display of arms and aerial firing, directing officers to proceed against violators in accordance with law.
The conference also reviewed the role of Safe City Islamabad in Independence Day security. Rizvi directed officers to maintain integrated surveillance of major roads, important locations and public gathering points through the Safe City system and immediately mobilise field teams whenever required.
He also ordered enhanced monitoring through the Hotel Eye software, directing the concerned officials to ensure proper registration and scrutiny of records of people staying at hotels across the federal capital.
Reviewing traffic arrangements, the IGP directed deployment of additional traffic personnel at major intersections, key roads, recreational spots and celebration venues to maintain smooth traffic flow and facilitate citizens.
He directed the security, traffic, Safe City and other concerned units to maintain close coordination so that surveillance, field deployment and traffic management operated under a unified mechanism throughout the celebrations.
IGP Rizvi stressed that no lapse in security, traffic management or other arrangements should be allowed, directing all concerned officers to discharge their responsibilities with vigilance and professionalism.
ICT Police would remain fully prepared to protect citizens’ lives and property, enforce the law, curb illegal weapons and aerial firing, maintain smooth traffic flow and provide a peaceful environment so that citizens could celebrate Independence Day safely.
