IGP Rizvi lauds ICT Police as central 9th Muharram procession concludes peacefully

ISLAMABAD, Jun 25 (APP):The central 9th Muharram procession in Sector G-6 concluded peacefully on Thursday, following comprehensive security arrangements by Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi commending officers and personnel for successfully performing their duties.
An official told APP that the IGP Rizvi appreciated the dedication and professionalism of all police officers and personnel deployed on security duty and expressed special gratitude to the Islamabad administration, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers for their support and close coordination.
The official said there was excellent coordination among all security and law enforcement agencies throughout the procession, which contributed to the peaceful conclusion of the event.
Rizvi said the commitment and determination shown by the force while performing duties in extreme weather conditions were highly commendable.
I am proud of every officer and jawan who remained on duty for nearly 16 hours in such harsh weather, the IGP said.
The official said more than 6,500 male and female police officers and personnel were deployed to secure the central procession.
According to the IGP, personnel from district police, Investigation Wing, CIA, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and all five police divisions remained fully active throughout the security operation.
The official said the procession was protected through inner and outer cordons, flank security and rooftop deployment, while a seven-layer security plan was implemented to ensure the safety of mourners.
Rizvi reiterated that Islamabad Police would continue utilizing all available resources and modern security measures to ensure the protection of citizens and maintain peace during Muharram-ul-Haram, the official added.
