IGP announces free Hajj for three police officers every year, umrah every three months

ISLAMABAD, Oct 08 (APP): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry on Thursday announced a major welfare initiative under which three police officers will be sent for Hajj every year, while one officer will perform Umrah every three months, with all expenses covered by Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police.

A police official told APP on Thursday that the IGP announced the decision during a meeting with officers of the Logistics Division, where he reviewed welfare measures for police personnel.

Under the initiative, police personnel from the rank of Constable to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) will be eligible to apply for Hajj every year.

Three officers will be selected through a lucky draw and sent for Hajj at the expense of ICT Police.

Similarly, one police officer will be selected through a lucky draw every three months for Umrah, with all expenses paid by ICT Police.

The IGP Sohail said police officers perform their duties day and night, often in difficult weather conditions, to protect the lives and property of citizens. He said their dedication and services deserved recognition and practical support.

During the meeting, IGP Sohail described police welfare as a major institutional priority and directed the concerned officers to make welfare measures more effective and beneficial for personnel.

He said the welfare of police personnel would remain a priority so that officers could perform their duties with greater dedication and peace of mind.

The IGP Sohail also directed the Logistics Division to take necessary steps for the effective implementation of welfare initiatives for the police force.
