ISLAMABAD, Dec 9 (APP): The Islamabad’s Food Authority (IFA) carried out a major operation against a fake milk network after weeks of surveillance and seized 15,000 litres of prepared fake milk along with 865 kilograms of raw material after tracking a network producing 35,000 litres of adulterated milk daily.
While, two main suspects were arrested during coordinated raids in G-10 and Jhangi Syedan.
Talking to APP, Deputy Director Operations of IFA, Dr Tahira Siddique said that food safety teams raided two locations—G-10 and Jhangi Syedan—and arrested two suspects accused of producing and supplying large quantities of adulterated milk across the federal capital.
During the operation, officials seized 15,000 litres of prepared fake milk, 225 kilograms of powdered chemicals, and 640 kilograms of oil used in the production process. All seized items were destroyed on the spot, and a criminal case has been registered.
According to Dr Tahira, the arrested suspects were running a daily production cycle of 35,000 litres of counterfeit milk, supplying it to different parts of Islamabad. She said the unit was operating discreetly inside a residential area, where the suspects were able to run the process without drawing attention.
She explained that the fake milk was produced by mixing a thick chemical-based liquid with water and vegetable oil. The mixture was loaded into tankers and chilled with ice before being moved out for supply. “This material looked similar to real milk, which allowed suppliers to pass it on to markets,” she said.
Food safety teams and vigilance units traced the operation after extensive monitoring. They followed the vehicles, suppliers, and storage units linked to the network. Dr Siddique said the investigation revealed a well-organised setup that had been functioning for some time.
At the site, rapid tests were carried out on the seized material. The samples failed to meet the notified standards, confirming that the product was not milk. The team also observed active mixing of powder, water, and vegetable fat during the raid.
Dr Tahira said cases are being registered against those involved in selling a white chemical mixture under the name of milk. She added that the Food Authority will continue acting against adulteration networks operating in the federal territory.
She said all available resources will be used to dismantle groups involved in food adulteration. The Deputy Director urged milk suppliers to follow the approved regulations and warned that violations will lead to strict action.
Dr Siddique emphasized that the campaign will not slow down and similar operations will continue. She noted that ensuring safe food is a core responsibility and the authority will not allow illegal production units to compromise public health.
The Food Authority has also advised residents to stay alert and report suspicious milk supplies or delivery patterns. Officials say community involvement can support future enforcement actions.
