ISLAMABAD, Nov 02 (APP): The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has issued new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for restaurants and food outlets across the federal capital, making it mandatory for all kitchen and service staff to wear safety caps while handling or serving food.
According to the newly announced SOPs, chefs, waiters, and all workers directly involved in food preparation or service must wear safety caps to maintain hygiene standards. The measure aims to prevent contamination and ensure cleaner food handling practices across dining facilities.
The IFA stated that the use of caps has been made compulsory in line with food safety and public health regulations. Any restaurant or food point found violating the SOPs will face immediate sealing by the authority.
The authority also appealed to residents of Islamabad to report any restaurant or café where staff members are seen working without caps. Public cooperation, the IFA noted, is essential to ensure strict implementation of food safety standards.
In this regard, Director of the Islamabad Food Authority has instructed inspection teams to conduct surprise visits across various sectors of the city to monitor compliance with the new guidelines. Teams have been tasked with visiting food points, bakeries, cafés, and restaurants to ensure that all food handlers are following the updated SOPs.
“Citizens’ support is vital in identifying those violating these health standards,” the Director said, adding that the authority aims to strengthen food hygiene across the city through consistent monitoring and enforcement.
The new SOPs are part of IFA’s broader plan to improve food quality and hygiene practices in the federal capital. Regular inspection drives and strict penalties for non-compliance are expected to help maintain better sanitary conditions in Islamabad’s eateries.
Residents can report violations through IFA’s complaint channels, enabling swift action against non-compliant food establishments. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every citizen has access to safe and hygienic food.
