ISLAMABAD, Jun 21 (APP):The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has finalized comprehensive arrangements to ensure uninterrupted, safe and reliable electricity supply across its operational areas during Muharram-ul-Haram, particularly on the 9th and 10th of Muharram (Ashura).
According to an IESCO spokesman on Sunday, on the directions of Chief Executive IESCO, Engr. Ch. Khalid Mahmood, an emergency response plan has been implemented throughout all Operation Circles, Divisions and Sub-Divisions, while concerned officers and staff have been instructed to remain on high alert.
Chief Executive IESCO Engr. Ch. Khalid Mahmood stated that facilitating mourners and ensuring continuous electricity supply during Majalis and Muharram processions was among IESCO’s top priorities. In this regard, detailed inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation work of feeders, transformers and other electrical installations supplying power to Imambargahs, Majalis venues and procession routes had been completed.
He said a comprehensive survey of electricity poles, conductors and other installations along procession routes had also been conducted, and all necessary preventive measures had been taken to eliminate potential safety hazards and avert any untoward incidents.
To ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the power system during Muharram-ul-Haram, special control rooms have been established and will remain operational 24/7. Additional technical staff, cranes, vehicles, transformers and other essential equipment have been strategically deployed to respond promptly to any emergency situation. The leaves of field officers and operational staff had been cancelled and all concerned personnel had been directed to remain available within their respective jurisdictions.
The Chief Executive further stated that close coordination is being maintained with district administrations, law enforcement agencies and organizers of Majalis and processions to ensure immediate resolution of any electricity-related issues. He directed all concerned officers to ensure effective monitoring of the power distribution network and prompt redressal of consumer complaints.
Engr. Ch. Khalid Mahmood added that complaint offices and the IESCO Helpline number 118 remained fully activated to facilitate consumers and ensure timely registration and resolution of complaints throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
