ISLAMABAD, Jul 23 (APP):The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has asked power consumers to take strict precautionary measures during the ongoing monsoon rains to prevent electrocution and other rain-related electrical hazards.
Chairman IESCO Dr. Tahir Masood, in a statement on Wednesday, said the administration is making all-out efforts to ensure public safety and reduce the risk of life and property loss due to electrical accidents during the wet weather.
He appealed to consumers across the IESCO region to cooperate by avoiding any contact with electrical infrastructure during rainfall.
“People are advised to keep a safe distance from electric wires, poles, transformers, meters, and other installations,” he said. He further cautioned against touching electrical appliances with wet hands and recommended the use of rubber shoes while operating such equipment.
Dr. Masood also stressed the importance of high-quality electrical wiring in homes and warned against construction activities under or near power lines. “Even a minor mistake can lead to a serious accident and endanger lives,” he added.
He underlined that most accidents could be avoided by adopting basic safety practices. In case of any emergency, consumers can contact the nearest SDO office, the IESCO helpline at 118, or the Central Complaint Management Cell (CCMC) at 051-9252933-34.
