ISLAMABAD, Dec 07 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s Khanna Police team seized 37 illegal weapons during an operation conducted under the ongoing “Arms-Free Islamabad” campaign.
An official told APP on Sunday that the police raided the shop of a major arms dealer and recovered 28 rifles and 9 pistols that were being stored illegally. The seized weapons included 12-bore guns, MP5, 44-bore, 223-bore, and 7MM rifles.
The official added that the suspect had been selling weapons to citizens without a licence. He said the cache indicated a large-scale illegal supply line operating in the area.
DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said the timely action by ICT Police had exposed a major illegal arms network. He said that strict measures will continue under the “Arms-Free Islamabad” drive to curb the unlawful sale and possession of weapons.
He further stated that, on the directions of IGP Islamabad, police teams across the federal capital are actively conducting targeted operations against individuals and groups involved in illegal arms trafficking.
