ICT Police register case over assault on woman journalist, suspend official for misconduct

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Sunday registered a case and launched an investigation after a woman journalist was allegedly harassed and assaulted during duty in the federal capital.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 05 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Sunday registered a case and launched an investigation after a woman journalist was allegedly harassed and assaulted during duty in the federal capital.
An official told APP that the incident occurred while the journalist was performing her professional responsibilities, where an unidentified individual misbehaved and later physically assaulted members of the news team.
He said the police took immediate notice of the incident and registered a case at the relevant police station, initiating legal proceedings against those involved.
The official said a police officer was also suspended for misconduct after initial findings indicated improper conduct and alleged support to the accused.
He said the investigation was underway and all aspects of the case were being examined to ensure transparency and merit
