ICT Police net suspect in viral woman harassment case in Shahzad Town within hours

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have netted the prime suspect involved in the harassment of a woman in the Shahzad Town police area, after a video of the incident went viral on social media, following swift action ordered by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 27 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have netted the prime suspect involved in the harassment of a woman in the Shahzad Town police area, after a video of the incident went viral on social media, following swift action ordered by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq.
An ICT Police spokesperson told APP on Monday that the DIG took immediate notice of the incident and directed officers to ensure the suspect’s prompt arrest.
Acting under the supervision of SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, special police teams launched a targeted operation. The SHO of Shahzad Town Police Station, assisted by police teams using modern technology and human intelligence, traced and arrested the suspect, identified as Rashid, within a short span of time.
DIG Tariq said harassment or any form of misconduct against women would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He said ICT Police remained fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of citizens, particularly women, and would continue taking prompt action against those involved in such offences.
The DIG said the arrested suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law to ensure he received exemplary punishment.
