ISLAMABAD, Nov 16 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, under the Safe City  project, registered data of more than 25,000 individuals through the Hotel Eye digital system during the past week, marking a significant step in strengthening surveillance, crime prevention, and public security across the federal capital.
An official told APP on Sunday that the Hotel Eye software is fully operational across police stations, enabling real-time registration of individuals staying in hotels, guest houses, and shelter homes. Through strict scrutiny of the uploaded data, 11 wanted suspects were identified and arrested, after which legal proceedings were initiated at the respective police stations.
Following the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Safe City project is being expanded to ensure integrated monitoring across the city.
Director General Safe City Islamabad Muhammad Haroon Joya said the system is proving highly effective in tracing criminals involved in serious crimes, as it allows immediate matching and verification of individuals’ identities.
He added that all entry and exit points of the city, the Red Zone, major markets, and public places are being monitored through Safe City’s modern camera network, while special check posts and digital verification points have been established for enhanced security.
Apart from ground surveillance, drone-based aerial monitoring is also being carried out to strengthen rapid response, perimeter security, and law enforcement visibility.
DG Safe City said the use of modern tools such as the Hotel Eye system not only improves citizen safety but also equips operational teams with real-time intelligence. “The ICT Police is fully committed to adopting technology-driven policing to protect the lives and property of citizens,” he said.
He added that the Hotel Eye system is proving exceptionally valuable not only for recording the data of out-of-city visitors but also for identifying repeat offenders and wanted individuals, making it one of the most effective digital policing tools currently in operation.
