ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have intensified student awareness activities in educational institutions as part of their ongoing anti-narcotics campaign “Nasha Ab Nahi”, aimed at protecting youth from the harmful effects of drug abuse and making the federal capital drug-free.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the initiative is being carried out on the special directives of Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, under which Islamabad Police have launched a comprehensive awareness and enforcement drive against narcotics.
As part of the campaign, SP Sawan Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf and ASP Ali Raza Qureshi delivered special awareness lectures to students, highlighting the dangers of drug use and ways to prevent addiction.
Addressing the students, the officers said that drug abuse is extremely destructive for young people, particularly students, as it severely damages both health and future prospects. They urged students to stay away from drugs themselves and play an active role in protecting their peers from this menace.
They emphasised that with the cooperation of parents and teachers, the younger generation can be safeguarded from drugs, adding that public support is essential for the complete eradication of narcotics. The officers appealed to students to immediately inform the police about any drug-related activity in their surroundings and demonstrate responsible citizenship.
The speakers further stated that Islamabad Police, in coordination with other law-enforcement agencies, are taking comprehensive measures to prevent drug trafficking. Special teams have also been formed to identify and arrest drug peddlers operating near educational institutions.
Reaffirming their resolve, the officers said that Islamabad Police will bring all those involved in drug trafficking to justice without exception. Citizens were urged to support the police in the fight against drugs and commit to the message “Nasha Ab Nahi” by reporting any suspicious person or activity to the nearest police station or through the emergency helpline Pucar-15.
