ISLAMABAD, Oct 09 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Friday conducted a flag march across the federal capital and increased security at entry and exit points to maintain peace and law and order in the city.
A police spokesperson told APP that the flag march was conducted on the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Capt (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry as part of increased security measures across the city.
The spokesperson said police personnel had been deployed at important locations, while checking at entry and exit points had been tightened to prevent any untoward incident.
DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem said Islamabad Police were taking all possible steps to maintain peace and ensure the safety of citizens.
He said police personnel had been directed to remain fully alert and ready to deal with any emergency situation.
The DIG Ali said the Capital Patrol Squad was carrying out regular patrolling in different areas, while senior police officers had been directed to remain present in their respective areas and personally check security arrangements at duty points.
He said police were also continuing action against one-wheeling, vehicles with tinted windows, violations of pillion-riding restrictions and vehicles and motorcycles without number plates.
DIG Ali urged citizens to cooperate with police during checking and immediately report any suspicious person or activity through the Pucar-15 emergency helpline.
He said Islamabad Police would continue taking all necessary measures to protect the lives and property of citizens and maintain peace across the federal capital.
