ISLAMABAD, Mar 31 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have solved the high-profile Margalla Town murder case of renowned businessman Aamir Awan, arresting all five members of a dangerous inter-provincial gang through advanced technology and coordinated operations.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the case, termed highly sensitive by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, had triggered widespread concern after renowned businessman Aamir Awan was brutally killed at his farmhouse in Shahzad Town area.
He said initial confusion surrounded the nature of the crime, as investigators examined whether it was a robbery or a targeted killing, increasing the complexity and sensitivity of the case.
The official said police employed modern investigative techniques, including geo-fencing of six locations, analysis of 137 call records, and examination of footage from 257 CCTV cameras, while key data was obtained from Safe City Islamabad.
He said artificial intelligence tools were also utilized to identify suspects, reflecting the integration of advanced technology in policing methods.
According to the official, 17 specialized teams were constituted, including camera tracking, cellular data, interrogation, and raiding teams, which worked in close coordination to trace and apprehend the suspects.
He said raids were conducted in multiple cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Charsadda, and Mardan, leading to the identification of a well-organized criminal network.
The official said all five suspects belonging to the Mansoor Khan gang had been arrested, including two Afghan nationals, adding that the accused were heavily armed during the incident and had also taken away weapons of security guards after the crime.
He said the gang had a history of involvement in serious criminal activities across different regions.
IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said restoring the confidence of traders and investors remained a top priority, adding that Islamabad Police would ensure law and order at all costs under a zero-tolerance policy against crime.
He added that the case would be presented at the National Police Academy as a model investigation to guide future policing efforts.
