ISLAMABAD, May 12 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested an injured member of a dacoit gang after he was hit by firing from his own accomplices during an attack on a police team in the jurisdiction of Humak police station.
An official told APP on Tuesday that Humak police were taking arrested accused Liaqat Zahoor for recovery of stolen valuables on his identification when armed accomplices hiding on the route opened indiscriminate fire on the police team in an attempt to free him.
He said police personnel remained safe due to bulletproof jackets and other protective measures.
The official said the arrested accused sustained injuries after being hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices during the exchange of fire.
He said the injured accused was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
According to police, Liaqat Zahoor was involved in a murder case during a robbery incident within the limits of Humak police station.
The official said the accused also confessed involvement in multiple robbery and street crime incidents in different areas of Islamabad during initial investigation.
He said a search operation was underway to arrest the fleeing accomplices.
