ISLAMABAD, Aug 02 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have busted seven criminal gangs operating in the City Zone over the past month, apprehending 13 gang members and recovering stolen valuables worth more than Rs150 million.
An ICT Police official told APP on Sunday that the crackdown, carried out under the supervision of SP City Dr Ayaz Hussain, also led to the arrest of 86 proclaimed offenders and habitual criminals involved in various offences during the same period.
The official said the recovered property included two motorcycles, 13 expensive mobile phones, a laptop, batteries, Rs400,000 in cash and gold jewellery worth over Rs90 million. Weapons and ammunition allegedly used in criminal activities were also recovered from the suspects.
He said the accused were traced and apprehended with the help of modern technology and intelligence-based policing, adding that they would be challaned before the courts with strong evidence.
The official said the recovered stolen property had been returned to its rightful owners, who appreciated the efforts of the police teams and thanked Islamabad Police for their prompt and effective action.
Dr Ayaz Hussain said Islamabad Police would continue taking indiscriminate action against criminal elements to ensure the protection of citizens and their property across the federal capital.
