ISLAMABAD, Oct 04 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested 571 suspects during the last two weeks in operations against drug dealers, illegal weapons holders, proclaimed offenders and court absconders across the federal capital.
An official told APP on Sunday that the arrests were made under the Drug-Free Islamabad and Weapons-Free Islamabad campaigns, as well as operations against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.
The official said police recovered 13,692 grams of hashish, 4,521 grams of heroin, 12,402 grams of ice and 892 bottles of liquor from the arrested suspects.
Under the “Weapons-Free Islamabad” campaign, police arrested 111 suspects for possessing or displaying illegal weapons. Police also recovered three Kalashnikovs, four guns and rifles, 11 daggers and 94 pistols of different calibres.
During operations against proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals and court absconders, police arrested 314 proclaimed offenders over the two-week period.
The ICT Police also conducted 114 grand combing and search operations in different areas of Islamabad to improve security and check suspicious activities.
During the operations, police checked 6,328 individuals and 2,617 households, besides checking 271 hotels, 640 shops, 3,036 motorcycles and 1,206 vehicles.
For further verification, 382 suspicious individuals, 328 motorcycles and 10 vehicles were shifted to the concerned police stations.
The official said the operations against criminal elements would continue to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens in the federal capital.
