ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP):The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) on Thursday organized a two-day workshop for master trainers and item writers to ensure conceptual examinations at the WM Zaki Auditorium of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), bringing together educators, experts and academic leaders from across Pakistan to advance digital transformation and improve classroom learning.
The inaugural session opened with remarks from the Executive Director IBCC Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, who shed light on the urgency of preparing teachers for a technology-driven academic environment, said a press release.
He stated, “We must move beyond ceremonial use of technology and empower teachers to apply it thoughtfully and purposefully. Real reform begins when educators are fully trained and confident in implementing modern tools inside the classroom”.
Chief Guest Dr. Chaudhary Faisal Mushtaq (TI), CEO Roots Millennium Schools, highlighted the critical role of teachers in shaping the impact of digital reforms. He shared, “Institutions can introduce technology but the true transformation depends on the teacher. Until teachers master technological and AI-based skills and bring them into daily learning practice, students cannot benefit from genuine advancement”.
He commended IBCC’s initiatives and described Dr. Mallah as “a driving force who is pushing quality education like a one-man army and building vital collaborations for Pakistan’s progress”.
Guest of Honour Dr. Samia Rehman Dogar, Director Federal College of Education, MOFE&PT, expressed appreciation for IBCC’s nationwide mandate. She remarked, “Teacher training is essential to build engaging and student-centered classrooms. IBCC’s efforts to integrate technology across educational boards demonstrate a purposeful and forward-looking vision for Pakistan’s education system.”
The conference featured a series of focused technical and interactive sessions. Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor, former Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, ARID University, delivered a session titled Moral Foundation of Education on values-based teaching and character development. This was followed by Dr. Naeem Khalid, Senior Editor CANTAB Publishers, who led a session on the Use of Ed-Tech in Classroom Assessment, offering practical insight into applying technology for reliable evaluation.
Participants later joined subject-wise sessions covering curriculum alignment, Bloom’s Taxonomy and development of high-quality MCQs through hands-on exercises facilitated by senior resource persons from AKU-EB, PIE, ICM and ESED KP.
The first day concluded with resource persons briefing participants on an overnight assignment to develop a set of assessment items aligned with SLOs and Bloom’s Taxonomy, to be submitted the following day.
