Housing secretary reviews progress on Margalla Orchard Scheme
ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP):Federal Secretary for Housing and Works, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood, accompanied by Director General, Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), Capt. (Retd.) Zafar Iqbal, visited the Margalla Orchard Housing Scheme on Tuesday.
Senior officers of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and FGEHA received the Federal Secretary upon his arrival.
Federal Secretary was given a detailed briefing on the housing scheme, ongoing development works, provision of basic infrastructure and allied facilities.
Project Director, Margalla Orchard, apprised him of the progress achieved so far, ongoing development activities and the future course of action for the project.
Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood reviewed the development works in detail and was briefed on progress regarding electricity, gas and horticulture. He sought updates from the concerned officers on electricity and gas supply projects and horticulture works and issued necessary directions.
He also reviewed arrangements for rainwater channelisation within the scheme and sought a detailed briefing on measures being undertaken in this regard.
Federal Secretary was further briefed on arrangements for lighting along the main boulevard and directed the concerned authorities to ensure its timely completion.
During the visit, progress on the handover/possession of Block-A of the Margalla Orchard Housing Scheme, scheduled for June 2027, was also discussed.
Federal Secretary emphasised the need to accelerate development activities to meet the prescribed targets and ensure timely completion of all allied facilities. He directed the concerned authorities to expedite the pace of work and complete basic infrastructure and other essential facilities within the stipulated timelines.
He said the Margalla Orchard Housing Scheme was an important residential project and stressed that quality, pace of work and effective monitoring must be ensured throughout its development.
He directed the concerned officers to maintain close coordination in carrying out development and infrastructure-related activities so that basic facilities were provided to allottees in a timely manner and the project was completed according to the prescribed targets.
At the conclusion, the Federal Secretary expressed satisfaction over the ongoing development activities and directed the concerned authorities to maintain the pace of work and utilise all available resources for timely completion of the project.
