ISLAMABAD, Oct 13 (APP):National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) hosted two high-level parliamentary delegations from Türkiye and Azerbaijan on Monday at its National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC), NDMA headquarters.
The parliamentary delegation of Turkiye was led by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmus, whereas the delegation of Azerbaijan was led by Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan along with her team. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of the National Assembly accompanied both state level delegations to the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC).

Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, welcomed the distinguished guests and briefed on Pakistan’s proactive disaster management framework. He highlighted NDMA’s central coordination role and its integration of advanced technologies in early warning systems, preparedness planning, and emergency response operations.

The NDMA team showcased key initiatives aimed at enhancing national and regional resilience, including the development of the National Common Operating Picture (NCOP) and the Global Common Operating Picture (GCOP).

These platforms utilize satellite data and international hazard models to enable real-time risk profiling and informed decision-making. The delegation was also briefed on NDMA’s proactive efforts to foster regional collaboration through knowledge exchange, workshops, Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises (CISE) and capacity-building programs.

The distinguished delegation was apprised of NDMA’s recent achievements during the Monsoon 2025 operations, including Disaster Early Warning (DEW) system, widespread public risk awareness campaigns, the timely evacuation of over three million people at-risk, and coordinated relief and recovery efforts in affected areas.

The visiting dignitaries commended NDMA’s strategic use of technology, its commitment to resilience-building, and its role in strengthening national preparedness. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction, capacity development and mutual support during natural calamities.

This visit underscored the growing trilateral collaboration between Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan in addressing the shared challenges of climate change and disaster management. It reflected a spirit of solidarity and mutual trust among friendly nations working together to safeguard communities and build a safer future.
