ISLAMABAD, Feb 19 (APP): High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and further to strengthen bilateral educational ties between Pakistan and Malaysia.
The High Commissioner called on the Rector, NUML, and held a meeting attended by DG NUML, Brig Muhammad Rafiq Khan, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus Bin Hasbullah, Counsellor, High Commission of Malaysia, Dean, Faculty of Languages, Dr Jameel Asghar Jami and Director, National International Linkages Office (NILO).
The Rector briefed the High Commissioner on NUML’s academic programs, international linkages, and its role in promoting language and cultural diplomacy.
Both sides discussed enhancing people-to-people relations through student and faculty exchange programs, joint research, seminars, academic publications, and possible initiatives such as establishing an Urdu Chair at a Malaysian university, introducing Malay language and cultural programs at NUML, and exploring scholarship opportunities.
Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan also delivered an insightful lecture on “Malaysia-Pakistan Bilateral Relations,” followed by an interactive Q&A session with students and faculty.
At the conclusion, Brig Muhammad Rafiq Khan, DG NUML, expressed his appreciation to the High Commissioner for his visit and reaffirming NUML’s commitment to strengthening academic cooperation with Malaysia.
