HEC to hold 3-day AI training for University administrators to boost digital governance

ISLAMABAD, Oct 06 (APP):Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, through its National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), has announced a pioneering 3-day training programme on “Applied Artificial Intelligence for University Administration.”
The initiative is aimed at modernizing university management and marks a major step towards Digital Pakistan and cyber-resilient higher education.
The training is scheduled for October 7-9, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at NAHE, HEC, Islamabad. It is specifically designed for University Management and Administrative Officials in BPS-17, 18, and 19, including Assistant and Deputy Registrars, Controllers, Treasurers and other administrative cadres.
According to the announcement, universities can nominate a maximum of five suitable officers, with the top two nominations to be given preference in case of limited slots.
The focus will be on the practical, hands-on application of AI tools to streamline admissions, examinations, record management, and overall administrative efficiency.
In a significant move to ensure nationwide impact, HEC has confirmed that subsequently similar trainings will be conducted at its Regional Centers in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta as well.
The programme is being seen as a timely intervention to equip university administrators with future-ready skills to improve governance, transparency, and service delivery in higher education institutions.
