HEC, Kazakhstan to strengthen academic linkages

ISLAMABAD, May 29 (APP):Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, welcomed Ms. Anar Akylbekovna, Rector of Astana Medical University, Kazakhstan, along with H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, and the Pro-Rector Academics of the university.
According to official details, the meeting focused on strengthening academic linkages, fostering research collaborations, and exchanging best practices in medical education, quality assurance, and institutional governance.
Dr. Imad from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) shared insights on accreditation and recognition processes for foreign medical institutions.
Both sides highlighted the importance of addressing language barriers to facilitate student and faculty mobility and discussed the recruitment of Pakistani students for higher education opportunities in Kazakhstan through HEC.
The Ambassador also proposed establishing a Joint Commission to formalize long-term collaboration.
The Kazakh delegation is set to visit leading Pakistani medical universities, including the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU), Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU), University of Health Sciences (UHS), and King Edward Medical University (KEMU) as part of the ongoing engagement.
