HEC concludes MPU at CUST, trains 25 academics
ISLAMABAD, Aug 03 (APP):The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, through the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), concluded the Mentoring Programme for Universities (MPU) at the Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad.
Under the programme, as many as 25 received guidance from seven mentors through seven structured mentoring modules that aimed at enhancing leadership, professional growth, collaboration, communication, and institutional engagement.
Managing Director NAHE Dr Noor Amna Malik was chief guest of the closing ceremony attended by faculty members, mentors, mentees and university leadership.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Noor Amna Malik stated that mentoring has become one of NAHE’s flagship initiatives for building institutional capacity, strengthening academic leadership, and fostering a collaborative culture within universities. She emphasised that effective mentoring not only supports individual professional growth but also contributes to developing resilient, innovative, and high-performing higher education institutions.
On completion of the national mentoring framework, CUST Islamabad also introduced an institutional module on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) to align faculty development with emerging priorities in higher education.
On this occasion, MPU Application – a computer-based App developed by CUST to digitally facilitate mentor-mentee engagement, streamline mentoring activities, and strengthen the monitoring programme – was also launched. The App represents an important step towards ensuring the sustainability and scalability of mentoring practices within higher education institutions.
The event at CUST Islamabad marked the first MPU closing ceremony in Islamabad, demonstrating the growing commitment of private sector universities to embedding mentoring within their institutional culture.
NAHE, being a national Hub for faculty development, university management, and leadership, has organised these professional development programmes across the country. The programmes help promote academic excellence across Pakistan’s higher education sector.
